CAS, Russia’s national hockey teams allowed to return to international competitions
The Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned five IIHF Council resolutions and ordered the federation to admit Russian teams to affected international competitions in the 2026/2027 season. Ukraine’s Hockey Federation called the decision unjustified and deeply disappointing, saying it was preparing a protest and coordinating with about 35 national federations. The ruling may also affect Ukraine’s participation in the 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship, where it is due to return to the elite division for the first time in 20 years.
